The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season presents a diverse group of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
